Green Goodness Smoothie

If you like green drinks, this recipe is a sure win for you. This is a great gluten-free breakfast, lunch, or snack. The avocado rounds out the greens for extra smoothness, and green apple offers a sweet and refreshing punch finish. Add a pinch of cayenne or one-quarter of a jalapeño if you like a kick.

Ingredients

  • Avocado | 1, cut in two then seeded, peeled, and diced

  • Green apple | 1, seeded, peeled, and diced

  • Lime | ½, juiced

  • Spinach | ½ cup, roughly chopped

  • Kale | ½ cup, cleaned and roughly chopped

  • Celery | ¼ cup, diced

  • Ice cubes | 1 cup

  • Unsweetened almond, soy, or coconut beverage | 1 cup; if using store-bought, make sure it is natural or organic with no added sugars

Directions

In a blender, combine all ingredients and blend until smooth. Start on slow speed and gradually increase to a higher speed; blend for about 2 to 3 minutes.

You can add a banana for potassium or a scoop of protein powder for more protein.
